Biography

Daniel Marusiak Waldo is an alum of NMSU with a degree in Secondary Education and a M.ED. in Educational Leadership from Lesley University in Cambridge Massachusetts. Daniel served as a Student Success Advocate for eight years prior to joining the NMSU Center for Academic Advising and Student Success as an Academic Advisor. Daniel believes in the potential of every person and strives to assist people however he might be able to their own ultimate achievements and success. Daniel ran with the NMSU Cross Country Team during his undergraduate years which was a lesson in perseverance he states. Daniel enjoys motorcycling, rugged road exploration, and over analyzing stories.

Tell me something about NMSU that you wish more students knew about:

The utter importance, benefit, and community connection of communicating with instructors and staff. This is a practice I did not have during my time as a student at NMSU and now having worked in higher education realize the utter benefit. I would say that communicating with faculty and staff is the first step to success.  

 

Why did you decide to become an Academic Advisor?

Helping people is of utmost importance in life and thus teaching is quintessential. Academic Advising is part of many of the forms of educating.  Advising is a key point in which people can get direction towards reaching their goals and it is a honor to be able to assist them.
