Biography

Dr. Maria de Lourdes Valencia-Glenn (Luly) was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology. God, family, and blessing others have been the pillars of her life. She goes out of her way to help others. In 1993 she came to Las Cruces, NM to continue her education: an associate’s degree in Occupational Business from DACC, a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s as well as a doctoral degree in Educational Management Leadership from NMSU. She became an American citizen in 2007. Her favorite pastimes include traveling through South America and Spain with her husband and two daughters. Luly was the Director of the Mesquite Learning Center for 15 years in which she served low-income, first-generation students. When the Center closed, she was assigned to oversee registration at DACC, promoted to Director of Recruitment and Orientation. Since 2018, she has worked at the Center for Academic Advising as a Lead Advisor. Her passion to help others has always reflected upon her life and work. Currently, she is able to guide students to achieve their educational goals.
