Biography

Hamdy Oushy is Academic Advisor, International in the Center of Academic Advising and Student Support at New Mexico State University. He earned his Ph.D. and MS. in Range Sciences from New Mexico State University in 1994 and 1991; respectively, with minors in Agronomy and Experimental Statistics. Hamdy began his career at New Mexico State University as Associate Professor at Ag-Econ and Ag-Business Department in Marsh 2007.

He is is focusing on advising and supporting international & domestic undergraduate students at NMSU. He is mentoring, advising, and supporting those students. He is the technical communications academic liaison between NMSU, international students, and the various Foreign Cultural Office partners working with NMSU. Hamdy’s interests include: Academic Advising, Student Support, Professional Development, Recruitment, Retention and Student Stresses, Success, and Failure Factors.

Based on my past education and experience as a former international graduate student and associate professor at NMSU, I do understand the challenges and issues faced by students; specially, the international students. Thus, my most important focus as an academic advisor is not only to be student’s academic & career advisor, but also, be a student’s life coach, mentor and assist students in achieving their academic and life goals.
