Why/how did you decide what you wanted to major in in college?

I began my undergraduate career with a focus on Special Education but in my junior year, I got married to a man in the military. I went back to my undergraduate studies within the year and the program was redesigned, so I chose to graduate with a Liberal Arts degree. After a lot of life, when I moved to Las Cruces and began working at NMSU, I saw other opportunities and I am glad I chose this path.

Why did you decide to become an Academic Advisor?

Growing up, I always had wanted to be a teacher in an Elementary School, but after moving with the military while raising my own sons, I found that I enjoyed working with adults. When I began my career at NMSU, I discovered the Educational Administration degree and realized that Higher Education was my niche.
