Why did you become an academic advisor?

First of all, I love working in higher education.  I find it fascinating.  Secondly, I wanted to help students achieve their goals and advising is the quickest way to do that,  Working directly with students is the best way to help them navigate the university and their degrees.

Tell me something about NMSU that you wish more students knew about:

We have SO many resources to help students! Everyone is here to help so just ask and if we don't know the answer we can point you in the right direction.

What extra/co-curricular activities did you participate in as an undergraduate?

Probably my favorite part of my college years! I was very active in our residence hall council and in the university's Residence Hall Association. I was able to attend a bunch of conferences and met students from all over the country that were active in RHA. This experience led me to fall in love with higher ed and thus my career. I also volunteered at the campus radio station. The challenge was time management and making sure I spent time on my studies as well as activities.
